General
How much does SEO Fleet charge per hour?
Most of our specialists work at $30 an hour, across SEO, webmaster work, web design and development, PPC, social media, content and analytics. We also quote fixed prices for defined projects and offer monthly plans. Hours or a fixed price are always agreed before work starts.

Getting started
What is included in the free audit?
A focused review of your website and marketing covering the biggest issues and opportunities in the area you choose - SEO, website, PPC, social media or conversion - followed by a short call to walk through the findings.
How quickly will you respond to an enquiry?
We aim to respond within one business day. For urgent questions, call or WhatsApp us during business hours.
Working with us
Do you guarantee rankings or results?
No. Nobody controls search engine results or ad auctions, and guarantees are a warning sign. We commit to a clear plan, transparent work and honest reporting on the metrics that matter to your business.
Do you require long-term contracts?
Engagement terms depend on the service. Ongoing SEO and PPC usually run month to month after an initial period that allows enough time to show results. We explain terms clearly before you commit.
Who owns our accounts, website and data?
You do. Ad accounts, analytics, Search Console, domains and website code stay in your name. We work with managed access and document everything.
Webmaster Services
What does a webmaster actually do?
A webmaster looks after the day-to-day running of your website: content updates, fixes, plugin and software updates, uptime monitoring, security, backups, forms, and coordination with hosting and domain providers. SEO Fleet started with webmaster services in 2007, so this is work we know well. Think of it as having a dependable technical person on call for your site.
How are webmaster services different from website maintenance?
Maintenance usually means routine technical upkeep, such as updates, backups and security checks. Webmaster services include that, plus hands-on help with changes you need: new pages, content edits, fixing broken features, email and DNS issues, and liaising with third-party providers. It is the difference between keeping the site running and actively looking after it.
Can you help if our website has been hacked?
Yes. We work to find and remove malicious code, close the vulnerability that allowed access, reset credentials, restore clean files where possible and request removal of any Google security warnings. Afterwards we harden the site with updates, better access controls, a firewall and monitoring to reduce the chance of it happening again. Contact us quickly, as speed limits the damage.
Do you manage hosting, domains and SSL certificates?
Yes. We can manage or advise on hosting, domain renewals, DNS records, SSL certificates and business email settings, so nothing expires unexpectedly. We recommend keeping domains and hosting accounts registered in your business name, with us given access, so you always stay in control of these important assets.
How do you handle website backups?
We set up automated, regular backups of your files and database, stored separately from your main hosting so a server problem does not take the backups with it. Backup frequency depends on how often your site changes. We also test restores periodically, because a backup is only useful if it actually works when you need it.
Can you look after a website you did not build?
Yes. We start with a review of the code, plugins, hosting, security and backups so we understand what we are taking on and flag any risks. We then document access and set up a maintenance routine. If something needs rebuilding, we explain why before doing it.
Can you manage several websites for us?
Yes. Many businesses run a main site alongside microsites, regional sites or landing pages. We can look after all of them under one arrangement, with consistent updates, monitoring, backups and security across the portfolio. This often makes it easier to spot issues early and keeps costs and responsibilities clear.
SEO
What does your SEO service include?
It usually covers technical SEO, keyword and competitor research, on-page optimisation, content planning, internal linking, local SEO where relevant and ethical link building. We start with an audit, agree priorities with you, then work through them in order of likely impact. The exact mix depends on your site, your market and what is holding you back today.
How long does SEO take to work?
Technical fixes and quick on-page wins can show movement within weeks, but meaningful growth usually builds over several months. Timelines depend on your starting point, the competition in your market and how much content and authority your site already has. We set realistic expectations after the audit and report progress along the way, not just at the end.
What is local SEO and does my business need it?
Local SEO helps you appear when people search for services near them, including in the map results. It involves your Google Business Profile, consistent business details across directories, location pages, reviews and locally relevant content. If you serve customers in specific towns or regions, or have a physical location, it is usually worth doing.
What is technical SEO?
Technical SEO makes sure search engines can crawl, render and index your site properly. It covers site speed and Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, crawl errors, redirects, canonical tags, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, structured data and site architecture. Good content can struggle to rank if these foundations are broken, so we usually check them first.
How do you approach link building?
We focus on relevant, earned links rather than volume. That means outreach to genuine websites in your industry, digital PR, resource and partner links, and content that people have a reason to cite. We avoid private blog networks and paid link schemes because they break Google’s spam policies and can put your site at risk. Link building has been part of our work since 2007.
What is an SEO audit?
An SEO audit is a structured review of how your website performs in search and why. We look at technical health, content quality, keyword targeting, backlinks, local signals and how you compare with competitors. The output is a prioritised list of issues and opportunities, so you know what to fix first and what can wait.
Do you offer ecommerce SEO?
Yes. Online shops have specific challenges, such as faceted navigation, duplicate product pages, out-of-stock items, thin descriptions and large numbers of URLs. We work on category and product page optimisation, product structured data, crawl efficiency and internal linking, on platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento.
Can you help with international or multilingual SEO?
Yes. We work with clients in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and India. International SEO involves choosing the right URL structure, setting up hreflang tags correctly, localising content rather than just translating it, and researching how people actually search in each market. We help you plan this before you launch new regions, which is easier than fixing it later.
AI Search & GEO
Can you help us get cited in AI answers such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity?
We can improve your chances, but nobody can guarantee a mention. AI tools tend to draw on sources that are clear, well structured, trustworthy and widely referenced. We work on making your content easy to understand and quote, strengthening your brand’s presence across reputable sites, and making sure search engines and AI crawlers can access your pages.
How does GEO relate to traditional SEO?
Generative engine optimisation (GEO) builds on SEO rather than replacing it. Many AI answers draw on content that search engines have already crawled and indexed, so strong technical SEO, helpful content and authority still matter. GEO adds extra focus on clear answers, factual accuracy, entity consistency and being mentioned by other trusted sources.
Does structured data help with AI search?
Structured data (schema markup) helps machines understand what your content is about, such as your organisation, products, services, articles and FAQs. It can support rich results in Google and makes your information easier to interpret. It is not a shortcut to AI citations on its own, but it is a sensible part of a well-built site.
What do you actually do to optimise for AI search?
We review how your brand appears in AI answers for important questions, check that AI crawlers are not blocked unintentionally, and restructure key pages so answers are clear and self-contained. We also add or fix structured data, tighten facts about your business across the web and build mentions on relevant, reputable sites. We track visibility over time and adjust.
PPC & Google Ads
How does PPC advertising work?
With pay-per-click advertising you bid to show ads to people searching for, or browsing content related to, what you offer. You pay when someone clicks. Platforms such as Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising run an auction that considers your bid, ad quality and expected relevance. Good management is about reaching the right people at a cost that makes business sense.
What is the minimum budget for Google Ads?
There is no single answer, because costs vary widely by industry, location and competition. A budget that works well in one market may barely register in another. We recommend a starting budget after reviewing your market, keywords and goals in an audit, so you can test properly without spending more than you need to.
What is the difference between the management fee and ad spend?
Ad spend is the money you pay directly to Google, Microsoft or social platforms for clicks and impressions. The management fee is what you pay us for strategy, setup, optimisation, testing and reporting. We keep the two separate, so you can see exactly what goes to the platforms and what goes to us.
Should we use Performance Max campaigns?
Performance Max can work well, especially for ecommerce, but it gives you less control and visibility than Search or Shopping campaigns. It relies heavily on accurate conversion tracking and good creative assets. We decide case by case, often running it alongside standard campaigns with clear exclusions, and we watch closely where the budget actually goes.
How do you set up conversion tracking?
We track the actions that matter to your business, such as form submissions, calls, purchases and bookings, using Google Tag Manager, GA4 and platform tags. Where suitable, we set up enhanced conversions and offline conversion imports, and we respect consent requirements. Without reliable tracking, automated bidding has little to learn from, so we check this before scaling spend.
How quickly will we see results from PPC?
Ads can start bringing traffic as soon as they are approved, which is much faster than SEO. That said, the first weeks are usually a learning period while bidding adjusts and we test keywords, ads and landing pages. Performance often improves as data builds up, so it is worth judging campaigns over a sensible period rather than day by day.
Will we own our Google Ads account?
Yes. Your ad accounts should be set up in your name, with billing linked to your payment method, and we work through manager access. If we part ways, the account, its history and all campaign data stay with you. If we inherit an account owned by a previous agency, we can help you move it into your control.
Social Media
Which social media platforms should my business be on?
The ones your customers actually use, and that you can keep up with consistently. B2B companies often do well on LinkedIn, while consumer brands may focus on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok. YouTube suits businesses that can explain or demonstrate things. We usually recommend doing two platforms well rather than five poorly.
What is the difference between organic and paid social?
Organic social is the content you post to your own profiles, which builds trust and community over time. Paid social uses advertising to reach specific audiences based on interests, demographics, behaviour or your own customer lists. Organic reach on most platforms is limited, so many businesses combine both: organic for credibility and paid for reach and leads.
What does social media management include?
It typically includes a content strategy, a posting calendar, copywriting, graphics or short videos, scheduling, community management and monthly reporting. For paid social, it adds audience research, ad creation, testing and budget management. We agree an approval process with you so nothing is published without your sign-off.
How do you measure social media success?
We look beyond likes and follower counts to measures tied to your goals, such as website visits, enquiries, sales, sign-ups, engagement from the right audience and cost per result for paid campaigns. We use UTM tags and analytics to connect social activity to what happens on your website, and we explain what the numbers mean in plain language.
Do you create the content, or do we need to supply it?
We can do either, or a mix. We write posts and design graphics, and can produce simple video edits. Content from inside your business, such as photos of your team, products, projects and customers, often performs well because it feels genuine, so we may ask you to share material and then shape it into posts.
Content Marketing
What is content marketing?
Content marketing means creating useful material, such as articles, guides, case studies, videos and newsletters, that helps your audience solve problems and builds trust in your business. Done well, it supports SEO, gives your social and email channels something worth sharing, and helps prospects make decisions before they contact you.
Who writes the content, and how do you get it right for our industry?
Our writers research your industry, competitors and customer questions, and we interview you or your team for the insight only you have. Every piece goes through editing and your approval before publishing. For specialist or regulated topics, we recommend that a qualified person on your side reviews content for accuracy.
Do you use AI to write content?
We may use AI tools to help with research, outlines or first drafts, but people plan, write, edit and fact-check everything we deliver. Google’s guidance focuses on whether content is helpful and reliable rather than how it was produced. Unedited AI text is often generic and can contain errors, so we do not publish it as it comes.
How often should we publish new content?
Consistency and quality matter more than volume. A few genuinely useful pieces each month usually beat frequent thin posts. Updating and improving existing pages can also be very effective. We plan a realistic schedule based on your goals, resources and competition, and we review what is working before adding more.
Web Design & Development
How long does it take to build a website?
Typically a few weeks to a few months depending on scope. A small brochure site moves faster than a large ecommerce build or a custom web application. Timelines also depend on how quickly content, feedback and approvals come through. We agree a project plan with clear milestones before we start.
Should we use WordPress or a custom-built website?
WordPress suits most business websites because it is flexible, widely supported and easy for your team to update. A custom build can make sense when you need specific functionality, integrations or performance that a standard CMS would struggle with. We recommend based on your needs, budget and who will manage the site after launch, not on habit.
Will a website redesign hurt our SEO?
It can if it is handled carelessly, which is why we plan for SEO from the start. We map old URLs to new ones with 301 redirects, keep valuable content, preserve metadata and structured data, and check internal links. After launch we monitor Search Console and analytics closely, so any issues are caught and fixed quickly.
Will our website work well on mobile?
Yes. We design and build responsively, so layouts adapt to phones, tablets and desktops. Google uses mobile-first indexing, meaning it mainly looks at the mobile version of your site. We test on real devices and aim for good Core Web Vitals, such as LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP within 200 milliseconds and CLS of 0.1 or less.
Do you build accessible websites?
Yes. We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as a working standard, covering colour contrast, keyboard navigation, clear headings, alt text, form labels and readable text sizes. Accessible sites are easier for everyone to use and are increasingly expected by law in many countries. We can also audit an existing site and prioritise fixes.
Do you build ecommerce websites?
Yes. We build and improve online shops on platforms such as Shopify and WooCommerce, and custom solutions where needed. That includes product and category structure, payment and shipping setup, tracking, speed optimisation and SEO foundations. We help you choose the platform that fits your product range, integrations and how your team works.
Email Marketing
Which email marketing platforms do you work with?
We work with most major platforms, including Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo and HubSpot. If you already use one, we will usually work within it rather than moving you. If you are choosing or switching, we recommend a platform based on your list size, ecommerce needs, automation requirements and the tools it needs to connect with.
What kind of email automation can you set up?
Common automations include welcome series, abandoned basket reminders, post-purchase follow-ups, lead nurturing sequences, re-engagement campaigns and birthday or renewal reminders. Once set up, these send the right message at the right time without manual work. We map the customer journey first, then build, test and refine each flow.
Why are our emails going to spam, and can you help?
Often it comes down to missing or incorrect authentication, poor list quality or low engagement. We set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, which Google and Yahoo made requirements for bulk senders in 2024, and check your sending reputation. We also clean inactive contacts, make unsubscribing easy and review content and sending patterns that can trigger filters.
How do you build an email list while staying compliant?
We grow lists through permission-based methods, such as useful sign-up offers, clear website forms and checkout opt-ins. Laws such as GDPR in the UK and EU and CAN-SPAM in the USA set rules on consent, identification and unsubscribing, and requirements vary by country. We never recommend buying lists. For specific legal questions, we suggest checking with your own adviser.
Can you write and manage our newsletter?
Yes. We plan topics, write copy, design templates that work on mobile, build and test each send, and report on opens, clicks and conversions. A good newsletter gives readers something useful rather than just promotions. We agree a sustainable frequency with you and adjust based on how your audience responds.
Analytics & Reporting
Can you set up or fix Google Analytics 4?
Yes. GA4 replaced Universal Analytics, and many accounts were migrated without proper configuration. We set up or audit GA4 through Google Tag Manager, define key events such as enquiries and purchases, connect Google Ads and Search Console, handle consent mode where needed and remove internal traffic, so the data you rely on is accurate.
Which metrics should we be tracking?
The ones connected to your business goals, such as leads, sales, revenue, cost per acquisition and returning customers. Traffic, rankings and engagement are useful supporting measures but not the goal on their own. We help you define a small set of key metrics, set up tracking for them and build reports that show trends clearly.
Do you provide dashboards as well as reports?
Yes. We can build dashboards in Looker Studio that pull together data from GA4, Search Console, Google Ads and other sources, so you can check performance whenever you like. Alongside the data, our reports explain what changed, why it likely happened and what we plan to do next, because numbers alone rarely tell the full story.
AI Services
What are your AI services?
We help businesses and individuals choose, set up and use AI tools in practical ways. That can include identifying tasks worth automating, recommending suitable tools, connecting them to your existing systems, writing prompts and guidelines, building simple assistants and training your team. The aim is to save time and improve work, not to use AI for its own sake.
How can AI help a small business?
AI can help small teams draft emails and proposals, summarise documents and meetings, answer common customer questions, organise information and automate repetitive admin. Tools such as Zapier and Make can connect AI to the apps you already use. We start by looking at where your time goes, then suggest a few focused changes rather than a big overhaul.
Do you help individuals use AI, not just businesses?
Yes. We help professionals and individuals use AI to manage their work and personal life more effectively, for example organising email and tasks, planning, research, writing, learning new skills and handling everyday admin. We set up tools that suit how you work and show you how to use them confidently and safely.
Which AI tools do you work with?
We work with widely used assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, automation platforms such as Zapier and Make, and AI features built into tools you may already use. The field changes quickly, so we recommend based on your needs, budget, existing software and privacy requirements rather than favouring any single vendor.
Is it safe to put our business data into AI tools?
It depends on the tool, the plan you use and its settings. Some consumer versions may use your inputs to improve their models unless you opt out, while business plans often offer stronger data protections. We help you review terms, choose appropriate settings and write simple rules about what staff should never paste in, such as personal data or confidential information.
Can you build an AI chatbot for our website?
Yes. We can set up a chatbot that answers common questions using your own approved content, captures enquiries and hands over to a person when needed. We design it to stay within clear limits, test it for wrong or misleading answers and make it obvious to visitors that they are talking to an AI. We also review conversations to keep improving it.
Do you run AI training or workshops for teams?
Yes. We run practical sessions tailored to your team’s roles, covering how AI tools work, writing effective prompts, checking outputs for errors, privacy and sensible usage policies, and real examples from your own workflows. Sessions can be for beginners or for teams already experimenting who want more consistent, reliable results.
Will AI replace our staff?
In most businesses, AI changes how work gets done more than it replaces people outright. It can take over some repetitive tasks, which may change roles over time, but it still needs people for judgement, relationships, quality control and accountability. We focus on helping your team do more valuable work, and we are honest about where AI is and is not a good fit.
Pricing & Process
How does your pricing work?
We price each engagement based on the work involved, after we understand your goals, market, current setup and what you need from us. That might be a one-off project fee or an ongoing monthly arrangement. You receive a clear, itemised quote before anything starts, so you know exactly what is included.
How do we get started?
Request a free audit or book a strategy call through the website, or email hello@seofleet.com. We will ask about your business, goals and current marketing, review the areas that matter most and walk you through what we find. If there is a good fit, we then send a proposal with scope, timeline and pricing.
How often will we hear from you, and how do you report?
Most ongoing clients receive a monthly report with a summary of work done, results and next steps, plus a call to discuss it. Between reports, you can reach your contact by email, phone or WhatsApp. We agree the reporting format and meeting rhythm at the start, and adjust them if your needs change.
